This past weekend, we headed up to Mira Mesa's Chuck E. Cheese for our godson's 4th birthday party. Of course, Royce was super excited to go there and once again. Leo & Gavin in Jordan XI's and Royce and I in Jordan XIII's. This is fitting since we used to collect sneakers back in the day. Well, I still kinda do, but my last pair of shoes were Louis Vuitton sneakers, not Nike or Vans. hahaha.

Although Gavin was a bit shy, it is always a pleasure spending time with him and watching him grow up. Hopefully, he gets better with hanging out with us and Royce so they can wreck the BMX tracks together.... in Jordans! hahahaha

Bash At The Beach | Summer Finale

While AJ was at work, Royce and I were deciding what we should do on a Saturday. He had the idea of heading out to La Jolla Shores to hang out with the good folks from MEGA POWERS as they were throwing their last "Bash at the Beach" joint. Royce and I had an amazing time as usual and were were able to catch up with a lot of great friends we haven't seen for a minute. Unfortunately, someone forgot to bring the volleyball set-up that I requested. BOOO! (You know who you are)

Of course, Royce was the lady killer.

I was also able to hang with my God Brother Brian, who I haven't seen since my wedding back in 2006. the interesting part was, we didn't plan on meeting up there. It's funny how coincidence works out.

Thanks to the homies that were there and enjoyed the day and BBQ with us.

After the gym yesterday, I rushed home to grab the fam-bam and boosted over to Hooters MV to catch the first SD Chargers game of the 2010 season. We met up with Royce's Ninong and Ninang who were already there and had a table ready. Of course, there wasn't anything that healthy there so I ate whatevers. hahaha. Soo many girls were complimenting on how cute/handsome Royce is. I couldn't argue. Unfortunately, the evening didn't end quit the way I planned, but last year, the Chargers started the season 0-3 and still won the Division. #JustSayin'.

Lastly, the Shuffle gets even smaller (as if it wasn't small enough) with a diminutive form factor and an amazing price ($49).

OTSDRS HQ hosted UFC 118 Saturday evening with a potluck. Had a few people over and it was fun as usual. I thought we would get more beer-pong action, but there was a birthday at The Office that same evening. So, after the fight, folks went on their merry way. Maybe next time my ninjas. The most odd thing was, we had more vegetarian food than we did regular food this time around. Never had that happen before. hahahaha. We were all truly disappointed with BJ's fight/conditioning. Maybe it's time to retire or get a new camp. Either way, something has to change. Had a MEGA-GREAT TIME on Saturday with the folks that attended. Thanks for coming and hope to do again soon!

Saturday morning, I had plans with Delano & Co. to visit the first place San Diego Padres during the Filipino Heritage Day at Petco Park. Well, actually, we all really wanted to get the free shirt for the day AND watch our first place Padres for 3-innings. hahahaha. Spayde caught up with us at Bar Basic for some pizza/billiards/beer. Once again, great times, with great people. I had to leave early to prepare for the Penn x Edgar 2 fight at the pad which I will share pictures of in the next post. hahahahaha.

Last Friday, Chris planned a a Barona Buffet and tried to get the crew from back in the day out for a little "cathing up" session. It all started off well, until I heard the Swervy wasnt going to be able to make it as the day got closer. Then, ast minute, Swvery changed his mind and showed up with Crystal. Dave and Rebecca came along to at least visit, since they had a couple of hours to share until heading up to LA that evening for her father's birthday. Since, Barona was kinda far, we all decided on a closer venue for all of us to eat at and at least catch up a little bit. VIP in Chula Vista was the destination. hahaha. It was great times for sure and I sure miss these fellas. Hopefully, this reunion will rekindle the friendship that has gone astray. I have never had a group of friends that stay so positive and keep me looking forward to our next "hang out" session.

There has been alot of crazy collabos recently with streetwear brands mixing it up with OG workwear/solid companies lately. I'm really feeling this mesh that is happening.

With that being said, Stussy has been one of my favorite brands since the early 90's. It is nice to see they have teamed up with another one of my favorites, Clarks!

The shoes combine an upper mix of leather and ballistic nylon with that crepe sole we all know and love.

Ducati 848 EVO 2011

The latest thoroughbred to come out from the speed happy Italians at Ducati comes in form of a new 848, the 848 EVO ($13-$14,000). The bike is capable of hitting 140 horsepower at 10,000+ rpm that should give you enough go to turn any twisty backroad into your own personal Laguna Seca. The new 848 also has quite a bit of stopping power via the Brembo Monoblocs which they've matched with Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tires.

Oakley B-1B Grips (2010) Guidance System

The folks over at Oakley were kind enough to gift me with a set of their up-and-coming release of B-1B Grips. If you are not familiar with these grips, they were high end BMX grips made in 1982. Oakley actually started off as an MX company making grips first, then sunglasses were added into their line up. The rubber they used for the grips helped paved the way for the rubber you see on some of today's Oakley performance sunglass styles.

Comparing the re-issued grips with my OG set, I found a few differences. First, the box is a little thicker for my OG set due to the extra sleeves Oakley threw in and the re-issue box is longer. And second, the re-issued version has small "2010" markings at the end of the grips where Oakley Crud Plugs would be used.
A similarity would be the removable sleeves on the re-issues like on the OG set and the same material used to make them (according to the information given on the boxes). Hopefully, nobody tries to pass the re-issue B-1B's as OG. Market value for the OG version of B-1B's is between $125 and $175, with other Oakley grip models reaching around $200.

From what I was told, these grips are not out on the market just yet and the only color I have seen so far is this blue/white combination. I am sure there will be additional color combinations available on release day. I really hope they decide to re-issue a few of the other styles in their grip line-up such as the Oakley O-Wings and the Oakley Grip II. We will have to wait and see. As far as the MSRP goes, only time will tell.

"This is the first release of 5 colors, which will be dropping approximately every month, with 500 sets of each color being made. These grips are not being sold by Oakley, but they will be distributed to select retailers and friends, so be on the lookout!"

This is a huge deal in the "Old School BMX" Culture and there are many mixed feelings about it. All-in-all, I am happy with the decision to re-issue the grips as they are very nice and work well. This is a great alternative for newer BMXers to use a piece of BMX history on their New School bikes without burning a hole in their wallets. I will keep you posted as I get the information. On Sunday, We went to get Royce's first real haircut because my mom decided to try and cut his bangs to stop it from going into his eyes. Let's just say, we needed to fix it and trim 3" off of the back. It's almost time for his passport picture and we dont want any problems when we go to the Philippines. I can't wait for it to grow back already. hahahaha. His hair actually got curlier!
Afterwards, we decided to go to Seaport Village because it was a beautiful day and we wanted to outside in San Diego Sunshine. We had lunch and walked around while enjoying the fabulous view the bay had to offer. I could never get anough of this place. San Diego Forever Carnal!

This past Saturday, AJ, Brian, Royce Legend and I decided to go check out what interesting objects were at Kobey's swap meet. I was actually trying to go back for a bike tray for a roof rack that I should of scooped up the weekend prior. Unfortunately, it wasn't there anymore or we couldn't find it. It appeared that the personal vendors did not keep the same space number. OH WELL! no pics from Kobey's though. Sorry. Just enjoy pictures of Royce.
Phil's BBQ was right next door and I had the idea that if we ate first, we could walk it all off at Kobey's. It was our first time there and it was deliscious. I recommend Phil's to anyone visiting San Diego and loves BBQ. Next time, I am having the pulled pork.

I was walking through the isles at work today and spotted this 1940's/1950's Buffet Clarinet. It belonged to my co-workers father and he brought it into to work to take a photo for this wall space we are putting together to showcase some of the employee hobbies. He played it a little and I was impressed. The quality with products made in previous decades never cease to amaze me. Outstanding.

Tomorrow morning at both THLA and THSF, The Hundreds will unveil its exclusive colorway of Michael Lau’s vinyl figure rendition of Adam Bomb. Lau is widely heralded as the pioneer of collectable vinyl figure art, especially in regards to street culture crossover.

Last Friday, I was able to convince Brandon Guttersnipe
to leave work early and accompany me up north a little to Santa Ana, home of the Crosby. The venue played host to our good friend Steve as he got Culinary on us as he played head chef for the night with a special menu. It is always great to see the Archrival crew holdin' it down. Rhettmatic and J.Rocc of the Beat Junkies were on the tables and stimulated our ear drums. Thanks to Steve, Jason, and Eric for the invite. See you mothafucs soon!

Last night, we threw an event at rock Bottom in San Diego with Armory, Sharpshooterz, Guttersnipe, and Destiny's Insurance. This was a very successfull event and if you missed out, then you missed out. I had a great time and

Saturday night was Marvin's Birthday Bash(ing)at Bondi in downtown San Diego. Brian and I rolled there with Paolo, Alfred, and Raul who visited from San Francisco for the weekend. Pre-fade then off we went. It was my first time there and not your typical nightclub. Well, it was more of a bar, but not an actual dive bar. Pretty fun for a free place and alot nicer than dive bar. Drinks were fairly priced, but Marvin & Co. pretty much had all the liquor ready for the nights festivities. Check it out.

Two weekends ago, I headed out to Irvine for the JCCS with Leo and met up with some familiar faces. Our good friend Toppie finally finished restoring his 510 after 4 years and decided to show it off. his car looked great and cleaner than MAJORITY of the 510s there. I am not sure if he placed, but I know he was chosen for an exclusive interview for a Japanese Magazine which I am not allowed to broadcast at this moment. I will fill you in later.............

Last Sunday, Brian asked me if I wanted to check out the Chargers game in town. Spoke with the wifey and in 30 min, we were off to the tailgating party awaiting our arrival in the H3 area. As we first entered the stadium, the seats looked very promising. Then, the place got packed and it was kinda hard to see with my height and all. hahahahah.. After the WIN, we decided to continue the tailgating action until the crowd leaving dies down. All in all, I had a super time with great company. Thanks B!

Ron Artest, San Diego surprise visit

I was chillin yesterday with Royce Legend watching the Chargers slowly let the W slip away when I received a text from a good friend in LA asking me where the best spot in SD was on a Sunday night. I wasn't sure of the outcome of it all, but apparently, Ron Artest of the LA Lakers wanted to come down to SD to perform a few songs for some lucky party-goers. I made a few calls, and we were able to get him into Sin Niteclub where he was appreciated and made all the Lakers fans go nuts. For the amount of time we had to get this together, I think it was great times as always.

Be on the look out, we will have a full on performance be Mr Artest again coming to SD sooner than you think! Holla at me........

I was at the Olympic Training Center yesterday for the time trials. Today is the Final race day where I will see if Day, Long, or Robinson will take USA to the top.

On Saturday, some friends came to San Deigo to chill and party a bit with Brian and I. Paolo is visiting from the Philippines and looking for DJ's to recruit to spin at the hottest clubs as well as live in the Philippines. Jackie and Raf cam from LA to get a change in scenery in one of their favorite places, The Gaslamp Quarter. We were on the guest list for the Hard Rock but didn't make it on time. We decided to just hit the free rooftop spots like J-Bar and Altitude. We ended up catching up with Jay at Altitude. They had a great time and might even come back this weekend for more. hahahaha..

Last weekend, San Diego played host to ASR once again. I was invited to the Vapors Magazine x Arnette Remix Paty at The Ivy hotel. I had a great time with Brian of Guttersnipe and Marvin. Marvin, as always, brings chicks and we were able to get Brian fucked up faster than my Type-R hitting redline. hahahaha. I was chillin' with Willy in the VIP area all night with the Workshop fam. Brian ended up taking off early with his brother and I decided to meet up with the Rhandy and the In4mation fam at Star Bar. Yeah! CHEAP DRINKS!
